Louis Osselaer

HYROX Elite 15 · Belgian Record Holder · 53:25 Pro

I've never been the naturally strong guy. I came from javelin, tried triathlon until injury stopped me, and spent years in CrossFit fighting for every kilo of strength. Endurance was my gift, strength I had to earn.

In 2022, I entered a HYROX race almost as a side project: one specific session a week, next to my regular CrossFit training. I qualified for the World Championships in Las Vegas and became age group world champion.

That result told me HYROX was my sport. It also fooled me.

Because when I went all-in and set my sights on Elite 15, talent stopped being enough. My running wasn't improving fast enough. I was carrying too much weight. I kept hitting walls.

What changed everything wasn't a new training plan, it was a new focus. I stopped chasing results and started obsessing over the process. I learned to read how my body responds to training. I picked one weakness at a time and worked on it for months. At one point I focused purely on running and dropped strength training completely. And I took full responsibility: if something wasn't working, that was on me. Which meant I could fix it.

Since then: no injuries, steady progress, the fastest HYROX time in Belgium — 53:25 — and racing at the Elite 15 level.

That's what I coach now. Not my talent, you can't buy that, and you don't need it. My process: structure, smart pacing, honest assessment, and one improvement at a time. So you can skip the years I spent figuring it out.
